I have been a nurse at Georgetown University Hospital for almost eight years where I have gained experience working in a fast paced setting with a diverse and often challenging patient population. The fact that Georgetown is both a teaching and magnet hospital has enhanced my learning, and given me the opportunity to take on leadership roles that other hospitals may not have provided. This experience has strengthened my communication and critical thinking skills, as well as my confidence. I am patient, compassionate and adaptable, which allows me to be successful in a variety of situations. I enjoy problem solving, and feel comfortable standing on my own, but never tire of learning new information or skills.
Together, my work experience and clinical training has prepared me with the skills needed to become a competent and efficient nurse practitioner. However, I believe it is my determination and eagerness to learn, as well as my compassion and interpersonal skills that make me stand out as an applicant. Skills can always be learned, but the ability to build healthy trusting relationships with patients and colleagues is something that comes naturally to me, and has served me well in my profession.
